This policy explains how TechTic collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit techtic.co.za, use our shopping assistant, contact us, create an account or place an order. We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable law.
1. Who is responsible
TechTic is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Contact us at support@techtic.co.za, WhatsApp +27 82 890 1654, or 43 Hyacinth Close, Corporate Park, Magnavia, Polokwane, Limpopo, 0699, South Africa.
2. Information we collect
- Order and account information: name, email, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, order history and account details.
- Payment information: payment status and limited transaction information supplied by our payment providers. TechTic does not receive or store your full card number.
- Support information: messages, product questions, return or warranty details, and information you choose to provide through email, WhatsApp, forms or the shopping assistant.
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device details, cookies, pages and products viewed, searches, cart activity, referral information and advertising interactions.
- Delivery information: address, contact details, delivery instructions, tracking and fulfilment status.
3. Why we use information
We use personal information to operate the store; process payments and orders; arrange delivery; provide invoices, support, returns and warranty assistance; prevent fraud and security incidents; maintain accounts and carts; improve products and website performance; measure advertising; comply with legal obligations; and send marketing or abandoned-checkout reminders where permitted. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time.
4. Sources of information
Information is collected directly from you, automatically from your browser or device, and from service providers involved in payments, delivery, account access, analytics, advertising, fraud prevention and customer support.
5. Sharing personal information
We share only the information reasonably needed with service providers that help us run the store, including Shopify, payment processors, courier and fulfilment providers, analytics and advertising platforms, communication providers, customer-support technology, and professional advisers. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect customers or the store, or as part of a lawful business transaction.
We do not sell customer contact details as a standalone product. Some advertising and analytics services may process online identifiers according to your cookie choices and their own privacy terms.
6. International processing
Some service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we use providers and safeguards intended to give personal information appropriate protection under applicable law.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
Shopify and our approved services use necessary, preference, analytics and advertising cookies. Necessary cookies support functions such as account sign-in, security, cart and checkout. Where consent is required, optional cookies are used according to your privacy choices. Browser controls can also block or delete cookies, although parts of the store may then work less effectively. See Shopify's cookie information for more detail about Shopify cookies.
8. Marketing
With consent or another lawful basis, we may send product news, offers and cart reminders by email or other channels you selected. Use the unsubscribe link in an email or contact us to opt out. Service messages about an order, security or account are not marketing messages.
9. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including order fulfilment, support, accounting, fraud prevention, legal compliance and dispute handling. Retention periods differ by record type and legal requirement.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards and trusted service providers. No online system is completely secure, so please protect your account credentials and contact us if you suspect unauthorised access.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access or correct your personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, request deletion where appropriate, or lodge a complaint. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where the law requires it.
12. Children
The store is not intended for children to make purchases without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child supplied personal information improperly, contact us.
13. Changes
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The current version and update date will appear on this page.
14. Questions and complaints
Contact support@techtic.co.za first so that we can investigate. You may also contact the Information Regulator (South Africa) through inforegulator.org.za.
